War 2 Day 9 Friday Box Office Report- Another Poor Day. Emerges as a Big Flop.
War 2 continues to face tough times at the box office and the slide on its second Friday has only confirmed the film’s status as one of the biggest disappointments of the year. After collecting 147 crore nett in its first week which was already on the lower side for a film of this scale the Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr starrer dropped further on Friday with only 3.40 crore coming in. The sharp fall clearly signals that the movie is struggling to find takers beyond the initial curiosity factor.
The film had entered cinemas with massive expectations riding on the success of the YRF Spy Universe and the presence of two power packed stars. However from day one the opening was not at the level that a big budget spectacle requires. A film mounted on such a huge cost needs a thunderous start so that even if the content does not click the box office can still move towards a respectable total. War 2 never got that head start and the weak trend in the weekdays has now sealed its fate.
Looking at the current trend the film will find it tough to even touch the business of Fighter which itself had performed below par. With fresh releases lined up in the coming weeks War 2 will lose most of the screens rapidly and its theatrical run is expected to wrap under 175 crore in the Hindi market.
