Coolie shows stability in Hindi market, but lacks growth for sustained run

Coolie Roars in Mass Centres: Independence Day Boost Fades as Hindi Numbers Stay Flat

Superstar Rajinikanth Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, continues its march as a pan-India spectacle, though the picture is now mixed in the Hindi market.

After a sharp Independence Day surge, the film has hit a plateau. On Saturday, Coolie managed collections in the same range as its Thursday opening, around 4.5 crore, taking the three-day total to around 15.5 crore. While the Independence Day holiday pushed Friday to nearly 6.5 crore, Saturday flat trajectory signals weak hold in metros and limited showcasing across North India.

Early trends suggest the film may struggle to sustain beyond the extended weekend. With restricted screen count and competition from War 2 & Mahavtar Narsimha trade circles fear a sharp fall starting Monday, raising concerns over its long-term prospects in the Hindi market.

That said, the film’s performance in single screens and Tier-3 & Tier-4 towns remains a silver lining. For many small centres, Coolie is still a major crowd-puller, proving again that mass entertainers are essential for survival in those belts.

With Sunday still to come, all eyes are on whether Coolie can at least touch the 20 crore weekend mark in Hindi — though signs already point to a steep Monday drop.
