Akshay Kumar in Court: Will Jolly LLB 3 Deliver Justice at the Box Office? Trailer Drops Tomorrow!

The makers of Jolly LLB 3 are all set to drop the trailer on 10 September, and the film will land in theatres on 19 September 2025. On paper, the film has every ingredient that can translate into a healthy theatrical run, a courtroom comedy franchise with a strong recall value, a clash between two “Jollys” (Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi), director Subhash Kapoor at the helm again, and the promise of entertainment laced with satire. Yet, the film also carries heavy baggage: Akshay Kumar’s box-office graph has been worryingly volatile over the last few years, and this release is being viewed as a possible turning point.

Akshay Kumar’s turbulent phase
For more than a decade, Akshay Kumar was one of the most consistent box-office performers in the industry, churning out multiple hits a year across genres. But the last few years have been rocky. Films mounted on big budgets, from action spectacles to social dramas, have repeatedly failed to connect with audiences. Trade pundits have gone as far as to call his recent phase a “disaster run,” with several titles underperforming back-to-back.
This has created a situation where Jolly LLB 3 is not just another release on Akshay’s slate, it is being positioned almost like a litmus test. Can the actor bounce back with a film that relies less on scale and more on content and character-driven humour? The courtroom comedy might just be the genre that allows him to reclaim lost ground.

Why Jolly LLB 3 Has the Upper Hand?

The franchise already enjoys goodwill. Jolly LLB 2 (2017) collected over ₹117 crore in India, becoming a surprise superhit despite modest expectations. That success was largely thanks to the film’s mix of humor, social commentary, and courtroom drama, a cocktail Indian audiences warmed up to. With the third instalment bringing Akshay and Arshad Warsi face-to-face as rival Jolly's, the intrigue factor is higher than ever.

The promotional strategy also seems tailored for non-metro audiences, with trailer launches and events planned in tier-II cities like Meerut and Kanpur. That is smart positioning, since the franchise’s earthy humor and legal satire appeal strongly in those belts. Moreover, unlike large-scale action extravaganzas, courtroom comedies are leaner in budget, meaning the breakeven mark is easier to cross if word-of-mouth is positive.

The challenges ahead
Of course, not everything is smooth sailing. The biggest hurdle remains Akshay Kumar’s recent image problem. Audiences, especially in urban multiplexes, seem fatigued by the sheer volume of his releases, with many questioning whether content has been sacrificed for quantity. Add to this the crowded September release calendar, including Baaghi 4 and several regional films vying for screens, and the road ahead looks competitive.
There’s also the matter of legal petitions filed against the film, accusing it of showing the judiciary in poor light. While such controversies can create curiosity, they can also alienate certain sections of viewers, particularly family audiences who form a significant chunk of courtroom-comedy consumers.

Box-office expectations
Looking at trade benchmarks, Jolly LLB 2 opened at ₹13.2 crore on its first day and went on to cross ₹117 crore net domestically. Adjusting for inflation, ticket prices, and today’s market size, Jolly LLB 3 has the potential to aim higher, but only if the trailer and initial word-of-mouth hit the right note.

In the best case, if the trailer clicks and reviews are glowing, we could be looking at an opening weekend of ₹40–60 crore and a lifetime run in the ₹150–220 crore range in India.
In a mid-range scenario, the film could net ₹80–130 crore, which would still count as a decent success in today’s climate.

But in the worst case, if audiences reject the humour or get distracted by competition, the film could struggle below ₹70 crore, adding another dent to Akshay’s recent track record.

Stay tuned with us
The trailer launch on 10 September will be the first big test, if it strikes the right chord, it can kickstart advance bookings in a big way. We’ll also keep an eye on audience sentiment, early critic reactions, the scale of advance ticketing, and how the legal controversies surrounding the film evolve in the coming weeks.

Jolly LLB 3 is more than just another courtroom comedy. For Akshay Kumar, it represents a chance to rewrite the narrative around his career and prove that star power still counts when paired with strong content. For audiences, it’s the return of a much-loved franchise that promises laughter with a touch of satire. And for the industry, it could be the reminder that even in a star’s most challenging phase, the right film can still turn everything around.
So stay tuned with us for regular updates, insights, and box-office tracking as the film inches closer to release. The courtroom is ready, the two Jollys are set to argue, and the verdict will be delivered not by the judge, but by the audience.
