They Call Him OG Gets First A Certificate After 14 Years For Pawan Kalyan, Trailer Creates Frenzy At Pre Release Event. Detail

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan They Call Him OG is making noise everywhere, from censor board updates to a record shattering pre release celebration in Hyderabad. The action drama has now become Pawan Kalyan first A certified film in 14 years, after Panjaa 2011.

CBFC Cuts 115 Seconds of Brutal Violence

The Central Board of Film Certification cleared the film with an A certificate, but only after trimming nearly two minutes of extreme violence. Close up visuals of hand amputations and beheadings lasting nine seconds were deleted. A hammering shot was also removed. Two lodge sequences containing violent close ups and a hand amputation scene totaling 62 seconds were cut out.

A disturbing shot of a child in a pool of blood was altered, while another involving a police officer unzipping his pants was modified. A three second neck stitching scene was removed along with a 40 second stretch of violent visuals. In total, 1 minute and 55 seconds of footage was axed.

With these changes, the film was passed with an A certificate. Its official runtime is 154 minutes and 15 seconds, which is 2 hours 34 minutes and 15 seconds.

Pre Release Event Turns Into A Festival

On September 21, the makers organized a massive pre release event, called the OG Concert, at Hyderabad’s Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium. Despite heavy rains, more than 40,000 fans turned up to celebrate their Powerstar. Evening featured live performances, a grand entry by Pawan Kalyan and an electrifying atmosphere.

The biggest surprise came when the trailer was unveiled exclusively to the stadium crowd. Though the video did not drop online immediately, excited fans leaked clips across social media. Finally, the trailer was officially released across all platforms yesterday, September 22, creating a storm of reactions online.

What The Trailer Promises

Trailer dives into the gritty underworld of Mumbai, where Pawan Kalyan plays Ojas Gambheera, a feared gangster returning after a decade long exile to reclaim his empire. Visuals are raw, stylish and filled with high octane action, giving fans a glimpse of the violent and emotional ride that awaits.

The cast is equally strong. Emraan Hashmi, fresh from his viral cameo in The Bastards of Bollywood, makes his Telugu debut as the ruthless villain Omi Bhau. Prakash Raj takes on the role of Satya Dada, while Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, and Sriya Reddy play key parts. Music by Thaman S adds to the grand scale of the project.

A Pan India Release Around The Corner

They Call Him OG is all set for a pan India release on September 25, 2025. With its A rating, massive pre release buzz, and the deadly face off between Pawan Kalyan and Emraan Hashmi, the film is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
