R. Madhavan Admits He Felt Nervous Competing with Ajay Devgn in De De Pyaar De 2

At the grand trailer launch of De De Pyaar De 2 in Mumbai, the star-studded cast  Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Gautami Kapoor came together to kick off the film’s promotions.

Madhavan, who plays Rakul Preet Singh’s father in the film, opened up about feeling nervous sharing screen space with Ajay Devgn. “I’ve never played a father’s role before, and competing with Ajay, I was very nervous,” he admitted. “I’ve seen many actors come to sets preoccupied, but Ajay sir is always focused, grounded, and completely present. That energy makes everyone feel connected.”

In the film, Rakul plays Aisha, who introduces her much-older partner Ashish (played by Ajay Devgn) to her family leading to an awkward yet hilarious clash with her father, played by Madhavan.

Directed by Anshul Sharma, the sequel to the 2019 hit De De Pyaar De also stars Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezaan Jafri, and Ishita Dutta. The romantic comedy hits theaters this Diwali, on November 14, 2025.
