While the fall is visible, the movie still stands on strong ground and is well positioned to grow over the weekend.

On Friday, the overall occupancy for the Hindi version stood around 18-19%, with better traction coming in evening and night shows. The drop was sharper at single screens compared to premium multiplexes, which maintained steadier footfalls.

Unlike massy entertainers such as KGF or Pushpa, this film carries a more rooted and niche appeal, which may be restricting its reach in those regions.

Including all versions, Kantara Chapter 1 has crossed the 100 crore nett milestone in just two days. The second day contributed around 42 crore nett nationwide, with Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Nizam circuits leading the charts. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are also delivering steady numbers.
The coming weekend will decide the film’s long-term box office journey. A strong Saturday jump could take the numbers close to its opening day figure, while Sunday growth will be crucial to set the tone for weekdays. With excellent reports from the South and positive word of mouth in Hindi belts, the movie is still very much on track to emerge as a big success.
