A Love Story with Intent, Held Back by Execution

Shazia Iqbal’s Dhadak 2 attempts to tell a socially conscious love story, moving away from glossy Bollywood romance into grittier, politically charged territory. Featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, the film tackles caste, privilege, and prejudice — themes rarely given such focus in mainstream cinema.

Plot & Storytelling

Neelesh (Siddhant) and Vidhi (Triptii) fall in love despite coming from drastically different social and caste backgrounds. Their relationship becomes the focal point for exploring deeply rooted discrimination and societal resistance.

The film starts on a slow burn, taking its time to set up the world and characters. While this measured approach helps in grounding the story, the first half often feels stretched. The second half is more impactful  emotions run deeper, conflicts become sharper, and the narrative finally finds its rhythm.
