Drishyam 3 teaser postponed due to approval clause from original makers
Fans of Ajay Devgn Drishyam franchise were eagerly waiting for an exciting update on October 2. The makers had planned to unveil the Announcement teaser of Drishyam 3 on the same date, which holds special meaning in the film’s storyline. However, the much-anticipated teaser launch has now been postponed.
According to reports, the reason behind the delay goes beyond just technical issues. Sources reveal that the Hindi makers could not release the teaser without approval from the original Malayalam Drishyam team led by writer-director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor.
A one minute twenty five second teaser was reportedly ready for announcement. Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak had earlier said the background music was not complete, but insiders suggest the real reason lies in an agreement clause between both teams. The clause states that no announcement or reveal can be made about the Hindi version without the consent of the original makers.
Meanwhile, the Malayalam Drishyam 3 has already gone on floors with superstar Mohanlal resuming his role as Georgekutty. The shoot began in late September. On the other hand, Ajay Devgn is expected to begin filming his version, directed by Abhishek Pathak, in December.
Interestingly, both teams were initially planning to release their versions along with the Telugu adaptation, starring Venkatesh, on October 2, 2026. The idea was to launch all three versions simultaneously, directed by Jeethu Joseph. However, when Kumar Mangat decided that his son Abhishek Pathak would direct the Hindi version after the success of Drishyam 2, differences reportedly emerged.
Now, reports suggest that the Malayalam team is planning to bring out their version before the Hindi one. With both versions moving ahead on separate tracks, it will be interesting to see how this celebrated crime saga unfolds once again on the big screen.
