Encouraging start for Param Sundari, eyes 8-9 crore opening day

Param Sundari opens steady, sets stage for strong weekend growth

Param Sundari has started its journey at the box office on a positive note. The film may not boast a superstar name, yet it carries the potential to score well thanks to a decent opening in occupancy and encouraging early reviews. While the numbers are not huge at the start, they are steady enough to give the film a platform for strong weekend growth.

The film opened with around 8-10% occupancy in morning shows, which is a healthy start for a Rom-Com of this scale and star cast. Normally, films in this space struggle to cross even 5% occupancy on day one, so Param Sundari managing double of that is actually very good. As the day progresses, collections are expected to improve further and by evening the momentum should be stronger. As predicted earlier by Cineinfinity, the film has every chance to close its opening day in the range of 8-9 crore.

The initial response has been better than expected, especially considering the genre and scale of the film. Word of mouth is building nicely and with no major competition in theatres this week, the movie stands to benefit in a big way. In Gujarat, the start has been on the weaker side due to the dominance of the Gujarati release Vash 2, but since the genres are completely different, the market is expected to respond well from Saturday onwards.

Another plus point is that the film’s music and trailer have already connected with the youth, and families are likely to join in over the weekend. The Kerala backdrop gives it a fresh flavour, though its performance in the Hindi belts will be worth tracking. Still, the positive talk and clear run at the box office place Param Sundari in a strong position to score well in the days ahead.

Friday is just the beginning, the real test for Param Sundari starts from Saturday onwards.
